'I adore The Clash.' Pete Townshend, The Who

‘What could be more fun than a book about The Clash written by The Clash - What makes this tome more worthy than the reams of unofficial Clash literature available is that in it, the band tells their story in their own words - it's packed with little secrets and playful digs - Brilliant.' Short List
'Thrilling - This is a treasure trove of hitherto undiscovered gems. Long overdue.' Classic Rock '

Really Good Book. I rediscovered The Clash recently. It's hard for me to understand the working-class Brit Punk 'thing'....But THE Clash were one of those seminal bands that evolved and changed over a very short period of time. When you listen to their music (I recommend The Story of...), it all sounds so familiar. The interesting part of the familiarity is that they were the early influence of much of the sound we heard through the 80s and 90s...

The Clash eBook Joe Strummer Mick Jones Paul Simonon Topper Headon The Clash Reviews
If you are into The Clash; you will like this book. Enough said
A fast read, not as many road stories as I would have expected from a band that toured as much as The Clash did. If you're looking for a soap opera of rock and roll this is not your book. A good insight into the stories behind the songs and history of The Clash. I liked how the format was geared toward compiling memories from all the band members regarding the times being described.
i'll just say that i like the clash but i got this book as a present for my boyfriend who LOVES the clash... when he opened the present, he gasped. that's how cool he thought it was. it's also a lot bigger and has way more pictures than i thought. from the description on the site, it seemed like it would be a regular book. this is more of a book of photos with some essays. enjoy!
Well written and very fun to read.
The story of The Clash, from start to finish, mostly as told/remembered by the band members themselves and their manager. Very informative and interesting for me, as I did not know a lot of the back story of the early, formative Punk years.
I enjoyed this a lot. If you are a big Clash fan you may recognize some of the anecdotes and words from interviews and films, but this is still worth it.
The version is underwhelming but it's good to hear the words of these visionary musicians from their own mouths. A lot of the interviews have been recycled and not a lot of new things can be construed from them if you're a real fan, but for people coming to this Clash for the first time it's well worth the read. I am sure if I had the actual book in my hands it would be a very different review.
